Los Angeles Unified School District - Training Curriculum Development for Student Information System Rollout

Challenge
LAUSD has developed many processes and technology solutions over the years to account for the information that is now going to be consolidated in one system. The District is spread out over a large geographical area, which complicates district-wide communication and consistency. Additionally, the technical skill level of all impacted employees runs the gamut from sophisticated, experienced computer users to first-time computer users.
Bronner and MAXIMUS, a national government services firm specializing in student information systems ("SIS"), were tasked to assist in the development of the core curriculum and the change management approach for the initial rollout of the SIS for LAUSD. The project goal is to transition the entire 725,000-student school district from numerous disparate processes for collecting student data into one seamless web-based tool.
Solution
The Bronner team worked with LAUSD staff to identify and assess what the most efficient training delivery style would be for the entire school district. The team determined that an initial on-line assessment conducted by Bronner would be an effective way to target the best training approach and skill set to help promote user acceptance. Bronner worked with LAUSD to clearly articulate a Training Plan that included multiple learning approaches, from paper-based to computer-based to instructor-led sessions.
Results
Bronner, MAXIMUS and the LAUSD team plan to implement and deliver a sweeping Student Information System that will save LAUSD time and money.
