DHR is one of the largest state agencies in Georgia. DHR provides health, medical, and welfare services to Georgians through more than 100 programs to support their safe, healthy, and self-sufficient lives. The Office of Regulatory Services plays an important role in achieving DHR's mission: ORS inspects, monitors, licenses, and regulates health and childcare facilities so that the programs and facilities operate at acceptable levels. DHR's successful service delivery could not be accomplished without the ORS's significant contributions. BRONNER's targeted evaluation includes recommendations on methods to encourage personnel to work with healthcare and childcare providers to improve compliance and provide the best possible services to Georgians. It also includes a detailed review and analysis of several key areas of the organization to uncover ways to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of services, including: 1) Policies and Procedures; 2) Organizational Structure and Communication/Interaction; 3) Process Improvement; 4) Technology and Other Tools; and, 5) Workforce Development and Resource Utilization. In addition, the project will examine significant trends, program changes and issues that would impact ORS' current operations. The project is another important endeavor that Bronner has undertaken to advance the public sector mission within a challenging environment of fiscal constraints and growing constituent demands.
