Meet the President - Gila J. Bronner

Ms. Gila J. Bronner is President and CEO of Bronner Group, LLC (“Bronner”). Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Bronner has provided strategic, technology, operational, and financial management assistance to several hundred different governments throughout the United States.

homeland security iconMs. Bronner has performed several strategic planning and eGovernment projects for various state and local agencies and federal entities. She is currently the primary consultant and facilitator for the Atlanta Housing Authority's "Budgeting, Strategic Planning and Change Management Consultation" project. She was engaged, again, after successfully facilitating the Authority's vision and mission statements and strategic thrusts over the last few years.

She has written and lectured extensively on the subjects of government resource, performance and planning management, and eGovernment. Invited by the University of Georgia Institute of Government, she has addressed several hundred Georgia state and local government officials on the opportunities and impact of eGovernment.

Ms. Bronner serves as a member of the City of Chicago Mayor's Council of Technology Advisors where she serves as a member of the eGovernment Subcommittee and the Education Committee, wherein she was responsible for developing the organizational, operational, and funding strategies for the City's community portal project. She also serves on many important civic and professional boards and commissions including the Illinois Local Government Advisory Board and the Illinois State Government Accountability Council through which she is leading a high profile statewide customer service improvement initiative on behalf of the Governor of the State of Illinois.

She serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of CPAs and, pursuant to a Presidential appointment, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, where she was recently reappointed to a second 5-year term. At the Museum, Ms. Bronner chairs the Finance Committee, in addition to serving on the Museum's Executive Committee and Strategic Planning Committee.

Prior to forming her own company in 1987, Ms. Bronner was a manager for governmental consulting at KPMG Peat Marwick. She has also served as director of the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program and professional staff to the Committee on Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting, and the National Council on Governmental Accounting, the predecessor body to the Government Accounting Standards Board.

For two years in a row, Ms. Bronner has been named one of the top 100 most influential people in accounting by Accounting Today, the leading periodical in the accounting profession.

Education

Ms. Bronner received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Illinois where she was elected to "Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities." She was recently presented with the "Distinguished Graduate Award" from the University of Illinois and was inducted into the University's College of Business Administration's Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies Hall of Fame. She is a licensed certified public accountant in the State of Illinois.
