Washington, D.C. – Friday, July 24, 2015 – The Chairman of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), Tom Allen, announced that Gila Bronner has been appointed to the FASAB. Her five-year term will begin January 1, 2016. FASAB is responsible for establishing accounting principles for federal entities.
Ms. Gila J. Bronner, President and CEO of Bronner Group, LLC, is a certified public accountant (CPA) and highly respected by government lawmakers and regulators as an expert on government efficiency and reform, auditor independence, and related accountability and internal control issues. As a member of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), she served as a key liaison to federal government oversight bodies, and as a member of the Executive Committee of AICPA’s Political Leadership Cabinet. She is a member of the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) for which she served as: Chairman of the Society’s Regulation and Legislation Committee; its Legislative Contact Program; a member of the Board of Directors; an officer of its political action committee; and, a member of the ICPAS Ethics Committee.
Ms. Bronner was appointed to the governing council of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, holding leadership roles including chairing the Museum’s Audit and Finance Committees and serving as a member of the Museum’s Executive, Investment, Ad-Hoc Search, and Strategic Planning Committees. She was an initial member of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Advisory Council Financial Audit Committee (FAC).
At the state level, Ms. Bronner currently serves as vice chair of the Illinois Finance Authority Board of Directors and chairs its Audit and Investment Committees. Previously, she served on the former Illinois State Government Accountability Council and the Illinois Comptroller’s Local Government Advisory Board.
Ms. Bronner is a recognized thought leader on public sector implementation and compliance issues associated with the recently enacted Digital Accountability and Transparency Act (DATA Act), and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Data Transparency Coalition, the only trade association focused on promoting transparency and security for government reporting data standards. She will be moderating an expert panel on governmental data standards at the annual conference for the National Association of State Accountants, Controllers, and Treasurers (NASACT) in Chicago on August 25.
